Our History

The story of Fowlers Carpets begins in the United Kingdom as J Fowlers Carpets established in 1900.  J Fowler was a dealer in all kinds of carpets and foreign skins. J Fowler was an entrepreneurial hawker who traveled from place to place selling his carpets and skins. His son John Fowler immigrated to Australia in 1935.

John and his wife Dorothy soon started their own carpet and furniture business in Crown St Wollongong. They then “retired” to run a carpet warehouse on their property in Leppington Sydney. Fowlers soon outgrew this warehouse and anticipating the growth in Western Sydney moved to Narellan and formed Fowlers Carpets Pty Limited.  J and D Fowler and later Andrew White have owned Fowlers Carpets for the last 30 plus years.

Future of Fowlers Carpets

Fowlers Carpets hopes to continue to service Sydney and the Macarthur region for the next 30 years and beyond. Fowlers Carpets will continue as a family business with David Jansen and Sarah Drysdale (daughter of Andrew White) continuing to own and operate Fowlers Carpets.
